Do you hold a recognised craft qualification in a relevant discipline (Mechanical, Engineering, Automotive, Petroleum) to NVQ level 3 or equivalent standard and would like to work within the Oil & Gas Industry utilising your Mechanical Skills?

We have an opening with our Oil & Gas Client based in Hemel Hempstead to work on a 6 month contract with potential for a permanent role at the end of the duration.

Job Title: Mechanical Technician

Location: Hemel Hempstead

Salary: £25,000 - £27,000 per annum + Company Van

Overtime Disturbance allowance : 50-100 hours £2110 per annum

The Role:

Reporting to the Mechanical Maintenance Team Leader you will be involved with completing day to day operational tasks and mechanical / general maintenance and inspection duties at allocated sites in accordance with company policies.

  • Operating Authority under the Permit to work system including supervision of contractors in safe systems of work, risk assessment and gas testing procedures.

  • Work to planned maintenance and inspection procedures and schedules, using the maintenance management system including the upkeep of plant history files.

  • Respond to corrective maintenance, defects found during inspection and other work requests, maintaining all records and plant history files as appropriate.

  • Provide operational support as required in response to emergency situations including dealing with emergency services and statutory bodies.

  • Provide on the job training support to new entrants specific to the discipline involved.

  • Undertake functional and personal development training.

  • Work under own initiative, prioritising workload with due regard to team effort and plant criticality.

  • Refer operational and plant issues and concerns to relevant discipline specialists, so that processes and plant can be maintained in accordance with the clients requirements.

Experience Required

  • A recognised craft qualification in a relevant discipline to NVQ level 3 or equivalent standard or extensive demonstrable experience in lieu of this.

  • Awareness of fundamental Health and Safety practices in the workplace.

  • Desirable - Knowledge of Petroleum industry and processes associated with high pressure pipelines, pump station and reception facilities, hydraulics, control and instrumentation systems.

  • Root cause fault diagnosis and ability to work under pressure and respond to emergency situations including dealing with emergency services and statutory bodies.
